Cleveland, OH(5-9-15)- A Cleveland-area man is facing OVI and possession charges after colliding with a police patrol car in the Cleveland Heights-area Friday morning.

Cleveland.com reports that police pulled over a 44-year-old male driver Friday morning around 5:20 a.m. after he ran onto someone’s lawn on Euclid Heights Boulevard. He then side-swiped a patrol car he passed as he continued to drive a short while until police apprehended him.

Police said the man appeared to be intoxicated and, according to the police report, when asked for his license, the driver handed the officer his wallet which contained two marijuana joints. Making matters worse, as he exited his vehicle two cigarettes containing cocaine fell from his clothing, the news site reported.

During the course of the stop, the man allegedly told police “so he could put his car to sleep,” Cleveland.com reports.

The man was arrested and charged with numerous charges, including OVI and possession of marijuana and cocaine, the last of which is a felony. He pleaded not guilty to the charges.
