Las Vegas, NV- Former Hollywood madam Heidi Fleiss just can’t seem to keep herself out of trouble and marijuana is her apparent weakness. Police in Pahrump, Nevada arrested Fleiss for driving while stoned and possession of marijuana, making it her second round of legal troubles over weed.

Fleiss was pulled over by Nye County police around 3:30 a.m. after an officer ran her plate number and discovered she was driving with a suspended license and registration, but that would be the beginning of her troubles. Police also discovered her driving license was suspended.

During a search of her vehicle, police found 4oz. of marijuana and a “large sum” of cash, some reports indicate she had $10,000 in her vehicle, though police did not initially disclose the exact amount. Police also conducted field sobriety tests and determined that Fleiss was under the influence of marijuana.

Fleiss was booked into the Nye County jail for driving under the influence, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and driving with suspended license and registration, according to the Las Vegas Sun.

The marijuana DUI charged is the least of her worries however, the intent to sell could land Fleiss in jail for 1 to 4 year, but it wouldn’t be the first time she’s spent time in the pokey.

But this isn’t the first time Fleiss has been arrested for marijuana related charges.

Last August, police discovered close to 400 marijuana plants growing on her property, but opted not to arrest her because she had a collection of exotic birds living in her home. The birds have an estimated value of $200,000 and the county was not equipped to care for them, the Journal-Review reported.

Fleiss admitted to police that she was growing the plants for a collective. She was charged with possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia and maintaining a home where drugs were used or sold.

In 2007, Fleiss was also arrested for driving under the influence of prescription drugs without a prescription and driving without a license.

Fleiss became famous in the 1993 when she was arrested for running a prostitution ring in Hollywood and had a number of high-profile clients, including Charlie Sheen. She was charged with tax evasion and spent 20 months in a federal prison.

Many marijuana smokers don’t realize, or they just don’t think that when they drive high, they can be charged with driving under the influence. Pot smokers believe that marijuana doesn’t affect their driving skills as adversely as alcohol, and studies have shown that for habitual smokers that may be the case, but regardless of that a person faces the same penalties for driving under the influence of marijuana as they do for drunken driving.

A DUI can cost thousands of dollars and the offender could receive a jail sentence and have their driver’s license suspended. Anyone charged with DUI whether it’s for marijuana or alcohol should hire a DUI attorney to work on their defense.
