St. George, UT- Former porn star Asia Carrera made headlines last year because she insisted on wearing a colander on head for her driver’s license, but now is she making headlines for a different reason. Carrera, whose real name is Jessica Steinhauser, was arrested for DWI after passing out on a couch at her daughter’s school.

St. George News reports that police were called to a school in Washington County School district building, and came in contact with Steinhauser as she slept on a couch. The arresting officer noted he could smell alcohol on her breath and asked her to participate in field sobriety tests.

She did and performed poorly, falling down once during the course of the tests and failing to follow the officer’s instructions. She later consented a breathalyzer tests and registered a .254, almost three times the state legal limit of .08. In a subsequent breath test, she registered a .202, according to the St. George News.

Officer Colby Carter said that Steinhauser admitted to driving her daughter to the district building to take a test.

Police arrested Steinhauser and charged her with misdemeanor DUI with a child under the age of 16 in vehicle. She was booked into Purgatory Correctional Facility.

Steinhauser posted bond and was ordered to appear in court on March 12th.

Last year, Steinhauser grabbed national headlines when she was allowed to wear a metal colander on her head for her driver’s license photo. As an avid atheist and member of the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, Steinhauser insisted the colander was a religious garment and was given permission to wear it for the photo.

Utah, like most states, takes driving under the influence seriously, especially when a child or accident is involved. If convicted of a DUI, a motorist faces jail time and could lose their driving privileges for four months or more. If an enhanced charge is tacked on as with Steinhauser, the penalties could be more severe and the consequences will spill over into the convicted offender’s personal life. Their job could be in jeopardy and they will left with a permanent.
