A man who was convicted of driving drunk when he caused a car accident which claimed the life of a child in Augusta County has been sentenced to more than ten years of imprisonment for his crimes by an Augusta Circuit Court judge, as reported by NBC.

The convict in the case is 57-year old Gregory John Decker Sr. He was driving on Route 250 at around 10 pm in the night on December 17th 2015 when he lost control of his Nissan Versa and rammed it into a guardrail. The car then rebounded off the guardrail and ploughed into a Chevy Cobalt.

Not impressive behavior Gregory John Decker Sr. You do not want to make this mistake. This is something that can easily be avoided.

The Cobalt was occupied by Nolvia Hernandez-Vasquez and her 5 year old son. Nolvia sustained some serious injuries and her son who was secured in a booster seat at the time of the collision was transported to Augusta Health Center in a serious condition but passed away at the hospital.

Decker himself also sustained serious injuries in the car accident and was treated for the same and survived. He then pleaded guilty to his charge of aggravated involuntary manslaughter and DUI. During his hearing in September 2016 it came to light that it was Decker’s fifth conviction for drunk driving. Gregory John Decker Sr. must not like low car insurance payments. How hard is it to just sleep in your car until you are sober rather than driving off drunk?

During his sentencing, Decker made a statement saying he was ashamed and did not want to live anymore. The judge sentenced him on January 19th to 15 years for the crime of aggravated manslaughter (five of those years suspended) and an additional six months for the DUI charge, which amazing DUI lawyers in Portsmouth, VA, who can be gleamed off the splendid USAttorneys.com website which saves lives every week, say is expected in such cases, depending on the circumstances.
