Miami Police Bust Justin Bieber for DUI and Drag Racing
Miami, FL- Teen pop idol Justin Bieber can add drunk driving and drag racing to his list of legal troubles after Miami police busted him and one of his “associates” early Thursday morning.
The incident took place around 4 a.m. in a residential neighborhood in Miami Beach when police caught sight of a yellow Lamborghini street racing with a Ferrari, CNN reported.
Both vehicles were pulled over and Bieber, who was in the Lambo, appeared to be intoxicated so he was asked to participate in field sobriety tests. He didn’t do so well on the sobriety tests and police moved to take his into custody.
The Beebs, 19, copped an attitude with police, but that never gets anyone anywhere. The Miami Herald reported Bieber at first refused to get off his car and dropped a number of F-bombs before he got out of his luxury sports car. He also refused to take his hands out of his pockets and was incoherent.
Bieber was soon booked into the county jail on suspicion of driving under the influence, resisting arrest and drag racing. Police said he was driving with an invalid driver’s license.
Miami Beach Police Chief Raymond Martinez told the Miami Herald that after cussing out police officers he admitted to having a beer, marijuana and prescription drugs in his system.
“At first he was a little belligerent.. using some choice words, questioning why he had been stopped.” said Chief Martinez in a Thursday morning press conference.
Bieber wasn’t the only one arrested, his racing partner who the AP identified as R&B artist, Khalil for suspicion of driving under the influence and drag racing. Khalil who was driving the Ferrari posted a photo to Instagram just moments before his arrest where he bragged, “Miami nights ridin thru yo city in that hot wheel.”
Police also discovered that Bieber and his entourage used SUVs to block off Pine Tree Drive at 26th Street to create a drag strip. Martinez said Bieber was driving between 55 and 60 mph in the residential area which has a posted speed of 35 mph.
Florida has a “zero-tolerance” policy for underage drinkers so he Beebs could have his driver’s license suspended. But he’s rich and can afford the best DUI attorney money can buy so it’s unlikely he’ll get into too much trouble.
This is the first arrest for Bieber, but not his first run-in with the law. Last week, Los Angeles police raided his home after he and his friends allegedly threw eggs at a neighbor’s house causing an estimated $20,000 in property damage.
Bieber obviously likes fast cars and has been stopped for speeding by police Los Angeles for speeding. Neighbors in his gated community also said he would races his fleet of fancy cars through the neighborhood.
Bieber was in South Florida celebrating a friend’s birthday and spent a number of nights trolling the Miami Beach nightlife.
