Supermodel’s DUI and Hit-and-run Arrest in Connecticut Highlights Consequences
Hartford, CT- Supermodel Stephanie Seymour’s legal troubles are getting worse now that she is facing hit-and-run charges on top of her DUI charges, stemming from an accident that occurred in mid-January.
The Greenwich Patch reports that Seymour was arrested on January 15th around 9:00 p.m. for driving under the influence after being involved in a minor fender-bender. While she was sitting at a stop sign, the model, who married newspaper magnate Peter Brant, backed up into a car behind her.
According to the Patch, Seymour had bloodshot eyes and smelled of alcohol. Although she refused to participate in field sobriety tests, she was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. Now, she is facing additional charges of hit-and-run.
Before the rear-end accident, police say Seymour struck a utility pole and fled the scene only to cause another accident a short time later. The Patch reports that the utility pole snapped in half, adding that police determined Seymour caused the collision because they found debris from her Range Rover at the accident scene.
So now she is facing a hit-and-run charge on top of her DUI charge. Fortunately, no one was injured in either collision, and the former model is only accused of causing property damage, which means her hit-and- run charge is a misdemeanor. A hit-and-run accident that involves serious injury or death can be elevated to a felony charge.
ABC New reports that Seymour entered a drug counseling program but said she was not seeking preferential treatment. He also said she just wants to put the episode behind her.
