A WWE tag team champ was recently faced with a challenge outside of the ring that might require him to obtain help from a DUI defense lawyer. Joshua Samuel Fatu, who is better known in the wrestling industry as Jey Uso, was arrested for DWI in Texas following a WWE live event that took place in Hidalgo. Uso was assigned to the WWE’s SmackDown Live! Brand where he and his brother Jimmy hold the title of being tag team champions. TMZ reported that on January 16th, he was pulled over around 1:00 a.m. for a routine traffic violation. Officer noticed signs of intoxication and it only went downhill from there.
The officer proceeded to have Uso submit to a field sobriety test, which he failed, and was then arrested. Later that day, Uso was released on $500 bond. While this may be Jay Uso’s first encounter with the law, it is the second time for the tag team champs. His brother Jimmy Uso was arrested for DWI back in 2011 and then again in 2013 after he violated his probation after being caught driving with a suspended license.
While the two brothers have worked to build a name for themselves, because of Jay Uso’s recent run-in with the law, he may be suspended from the league which would jeopardize his own reputation along with the title he and his brother hold together. The Uso brothers have become some of the top performers on SmackDown Live and even helped “carry the show’s tag team division,” according to GK Men. Whether they will continue down that path, that is still unknown.
How might a DUI charge affect my life going forward?
Like Uso, everyone is faced with repercussions for their actions. DUI charges are rather serious charges to be faced with and could very well jeopardize your career, your goals, and the opportunities you may have been hoping to receive. We explain why in more detail below.
If you are arrested and charged with DUI, not only do you become at-risk of losing your career but also your chance of being hired for that job you always wanted or even needed. If you are a teacher, nurse, healthcare worker, etc. you are likely required to inform your boss of your recent DUI charge. They could potentially suspend you from working or outright fire you. On the other hand, if you are applying for a job, the potential employer is going to conduct a background check. And when that DUI charge pops up, they may very well sift past your application.
